*nix

*nix is a term I use for the BSD/Linux/Unix family of operating systems. To be Unix, one must be an AT&T derrived SysV system. Outside of SysV, there is the POSIX specifications. POSIX defines a set of interfaces ranging from the shell through to the C API to interact with Unix-like oeprating systems.
